Domi Stuns World No. 1 Angelique Kerber to Win WTA Finals Title
Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova upset Germany's Angelique Kerber to win the WTA Finals on Sunday, beating the newly crowned world number one 6-3 6-4.
Domi wins Generali Ladies final in Austria
Dominika Cibulkova claimed her third title of the season and seventh in all by beating Viktorija Golubic of Switzerland 6-3 7-5 in the Generali Ladies final in Linz on Sunday. The victory earned the 10th-ranked Slovak a place at the season-ending WTA Finals for the first time in her career.
Domi lost in Wimbledon
Dominika does not need to postpone her wedding on Saturday after losing 6-2 6-2 to Elena Vesnina in their quarter-final at Wimbledon on Tuesday afternoon. Cibulkova booked her wedding to Michal Navara in Bratislava for the day of the women's final, not expecting to be in contention. She said after beating Agnieszka Radwanska 6-3, 5-7, 9-7 in a titanic struggle in round four that she would postpone if she reached the semi-finals.
Domi won the title in Eastbourne
Dominika Cibulkova beat Karolina Pliskova 7-5, 6-3 to claim her first career title on grass at the WTA Eastbourne event.
The Slovak 12th seed was competing in her fourth final of 2016 and now owns two trophies since April 2016 after her victory in just over 90 minutes over the Czech. Former Australian Open finalist will move back to 19th in the rankings as she makes a recovery from 2015 Achilles ankle surgery.
